ZEC Chauvin (km 22)

Zec Chauvin (controlled harvesting zone) covers an area of 615 km 2. It contains 249 lakes, 231 of which are open to fishing. Hunting, camping, or just hiking and fruit picking are other fun activities. The Zec territory is also a great place for watching ducks like Barrow’s goldeneye. Open your eyes wide, this diving duck in on the threatened species list in Eastern Canada. It lays its eggs inside cavities in large trees, or in the bird houses installed by the Canadian Wildlife Service. Mama duck and her ducklings are seen on Zec lakes starting in early July. A secondary doorway into Zec Chauvin is open on Sundays, at km 34.
