Between Tadoussac (km 0) and Saint-Fulgence (km 111), Route du Fjord stretches over 100 km through a magnificent valley with remarkable characteristics; it is called Vallée de la biodiversité , or Biodiversity Valley. Between the walls of the valley flows the Sainte-Marguerite River, a superb salmon river where rare ecosystems are home to species on the verge of being designated endangered or threatened: the beluga whale (baie Sainte-Marguerite) and the peregrine falcon, which nests on the immense rocky escarpments. Other species include moose, black bear, Atlantic salmon, and many other fish and bird species. Two forest ecosystems considered exceptional are found on the north side of the valley: a rare yellow birch/ black ash mixed hardwood grove, and an ancient forest of white cedar and eastern white pine.
Let your mouse dart along this Web valley, kilometre after kilometre, bringing back informations and details that will surely tempt you to experience first-hand a spectacular and intimate contact with nature – discover biodiversity!
